LEAWOOD, KS (KCTV) El Sherif has been involved in some arguably valuable work in the metro for years, including interfaith get together for children charities. But he recently found himself in the middle of some negative press.Last October the feds seized El Sherif business, the Beta Chem laboratory in Lenexa, KS.The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said it asked Beta Chem to “attain compliance with its radioactive materials license” but says the business never did. That why the building was seized and hazmat crews were called in.Thursday the EPA raided El Sherif home. Neighbors tell KCTV5 off camera that investigators were out there all day.El Sherif declines to talk about why his house was raided, including whether it was connected to his old Lenexa business. He instead referred KCTV5 to his attorney who hasn returned any calls.KCTV5 also has a message into the EPA to find out why they were at the home but, due to the holiday weekend, they have not returned any calls.
