COACHELLA VALLEY (CBS) For one night only, the dead walked and rhymed and danced among the living in the Southern California desert.
A stunned crowd of as many as 75,000 people was on hand at the 2012 Coachella Music Festival to witness the digital resurrection of late rapper Tupac Shakur in a performance that stirred up tons of buzz on Twitter and left many fans unnerved.
Joining his former Death Row Records label mates Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg onstage, the holographic image wowed concertgoers when it addressed the crowd in Tupac voice, yelling while wearing the late rapper signature sagging jeans and Timberland boots.
The image went on to join Dre and Snoop for a rendition of Mary from Shakur last album, Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory followed by a duet with Snoop on the 1996 hit Of Amerikaz Most Wanted was shot dead in Las Vegas on September 13, 1996, at the age of 25.
While much of the crowd cheered on the performance, some celebrities on Twitter were taken aback by the ultra realistic appearance of the hologram.
